Melbourne, Things Seen last weekend, 18-19 September

Hello mama,
I'm just sending through some things (3) I saw on the weekend, I hope you like them!
(1) in the Saturday Age, Good Weekend magazine, the most wonderful thing ... a recipe for Strawberry Napoleon -
I have torn this out of the magazine for you, but just in case I lose it (you never know) here is a copy ...
perhaps too many mille feuille, not enough crème pâtissière!
rhaps too many mille feuille, not enough crème pâtissière!
erhaps too many mille feuille, not enough crème pâtissière!
perhaps too many mille feuille, not enough crème pâtissière!
(2) and then on Sunday morning, I was flipping through one of the colour magazines in the Sunday Age (sipping on the delicious coffee Paul made me), when I saw the following picture,
it's an article about radio broadcaster, Ramona Koval
she does the book show on radio national (link), reviews and interviews with writers [you can listen to past shows via the website]

but in this photo [she looks like ellie, doesn't she?], she's wearing a "birdwing neckpiece" by Katherine...
I was sure when I saw
I was sure when I saw it,
but I checked with her just in case,
there are also lots of images of her work, her inspirations and her dog milly, on katherine's blog -
well worth looking at...

and finally (3) late on Sunday night, I watched Compass (website link), which was discussing Work, Later On, talking to people of "retirement age" who have decided not to ...
*an ex-university professor who has stopped her "head life" and is now exploring her "body life" by being a water aerobics instructor at the age of 80-something
**a teacher who works as part of a gardening co-op, looking after gardens for people who can't manage them any more, and !!! and this was the exciting bit
***a man who is also 80 or so (I think) who works at Fairfield Train Station (link) and greets people and helps them with information and just makes the place friendly.
why i this particularly exciting? Because Fairfied is our (Paul and my) local train station!!
and this man is a true gentleman
you can watch this episode, and see more of our train station, on abc iview (click to watch!)

(you can also see what's on Gardening Australia (website), if you like mama - goodness, you need never come back!!! everything's on the internet!! watch episodes for 18 Sept, 11 Sept)
some more photos of fairfield station,
i couldn't find a video, sorry!!
